O.U.R. is a week long orientation program that runs concurrently with
Week Of Welcome (WOW) specially designed to meet the needs of minority
students by providing them with a comfortable environment, and surrounding
them with similar people who come from a diverse or culturally enriched
back ground.
We work with W.O.W. on many academic and financial presentations and
new student informationals. We also make a special effort to insure
you become familiar with the different departments on campus and become
aware of the vast resources and great people available to you. We'll
help you take care of those pre-school responsibilities in order to
get you ready for college life and that first day of school.
We also realize that relationships with colleagues are crucial to
insuring a successful experience here at Cal Poly where we are faced
with diversity issues. OUR is designed to let you interact with many
new students as well as current students, and allows you to build
those friendships that often times last through out college and beyond.
We have every day of the week packed to the fullest with fun activities
including kayaking , go carts, beach days, hiking, and home cooked
meals. Take it from us, you will get a good nights rest and come back
the next morning excited for more.
We realize that, in our culture, parents play a very important role.
That is why we work with WOW to provide bilingual parent workshops
which will inform them on what to expect from you, and shows them
the student's point of view. We are also readily available to answer
any questions your parents might have.
The price of OUR is only $85 for students with a campus meal plan
and $100 for students with out a campus meal plan, which includes
meals, transportation, and cost of any other activities.
